December: A Month for Holidays, Finals, and Pokemon?

Ah December! A month of holiday splendors for everyone, including celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, watching Christmas movies, giving and receiving presents, and ringing in the new year. It's also a busy month for everyone, for students that are getting final projects done and studying for finals, and everyone that's buying presents for loved ones. But what some of you might not know, is that this month is also the time of the year when Pokemon fans change their profile pictures to their favorite Pokemon for the entire month.

Enough with the Pokemon. This month is about me!

It all started in December of 2009. A couple of guys decided to start this new tradition, and the phenomenon spread fast throughout the world. Some may argue that this tradition is pointless, either because it takes away from celebrating the holidays or that Pokemon is a childish interest. Most people that are in on this tradition are in their late teens or in their 20's. It's not an easy task to pick a Pokemon either. Currently, there are 649 Pokemon! Most people are older gamers and they will go for the original Pokemon. I myself am a fan of the first 2 generations of Pokemon. I chose Nidoking this month because he's a boss! I can't keep up with all the new ones. I'm just one man!

Pokemon Profile Picture Month is still going strong on it's 3rd year now. Whether people love it or hate it, it's gonna be around for a while. And frankly, I'm not complaining. It doesn't distract from what this month's all about. It just shows you're a Pokemon fan and you're not afraid to show it. Now, go be the very best, like no one ever was! And don't even bother catching them all. There's too many now.
